I have been to many places all over the world. I have been everywhere from the Middle East to San Antonio, Texas. My favorite place is located in New York City. I have been to many places all over the world but none compare to New York City. New York City is alive with its special brand of excitement. There are so many different things to see there, from Time Square to Broadway, but my favorite place in all of New York City is Yankee Stadium. In this paper I will explain why Yankee Stadium is my favorite place in the world.
I have been a die-hard Yankees fan since I was a child. I grew up watching Don Mattingly play there and so I wanted to go watch him play. When I was attending college at Marshall University, I met what would become a very good friend of mine from New Jersey. This friend was very kind to me and asked me to visit him in his hometown. While visiting my friend, I was able to experience Yankee Stadium for the first time. My friend was able to secure us tickets in the second row behind home plate. I was awe struck. I was overwhelmed by the smell of fresh cut grass in perfect lines. The sight of perfectly drawn white chalk lines on the edge of the field. The crack of the bat as a player was taking batting practice before the game. Watching the vendors go up and down the aisles selling peanuts, tossing them to people twenty seats away. I was in the same place that my idols once were and all I had to do was look over my shoulder to see the statues of the greatest Yankee players of all time. The thought of being in the same area that Babe Ruth stood in the batter’s box and hit so many home runs. While the stadium its self was impressive, it was the fans that really made the experience.
