Friends are someone who you can always count on being there. Without friends many people wouldn't be here right now. (Dramatic pause) My friends are the people that I can come to with my problems and I know they will help me out and tell me how to deal. My best friends changed when I got to Bottenfield. I became active in more sports, which allowed me to meet new people. (Look around room) I was reading an email and it was explaining the differences between a simple friend and a real friend. I think without my best friends I would roll over and die. (Pause) I don't think there has ever been a time in my life where I felt like I didn't have a friend that I could talk to. I am blessed to be able to not have to think that way. I believe that the theme song to Friends is the perfect example to true friendship. (Dramatic pause) "I'll be there for you, when the rain starts to fall." That is really what friendship is about. You want some one that will be with you in the bad times of your life, not just someone who is there when the day is bright and shiny. (Look around room) There are three main benefits to having a friend. 1.) Having someone to talk about your problems. So many kids are doing bad things because they didn't have friends that they could talk to about what was troubling them.
