Introduction
1.1 Background
Animals are natural resources that people have wasted all through our history. Animals have been killed for their fur and feathers, for food, for sport, and simply because they were in the way. With changes in time, man and animal relationship changed drastically with their interference in each other’s life. Where animals were mercilessly being killed and poached for economical benefits, in the rage or in fear many people were killed by the predators, as a result. Thousands of kinds of animals have disappeared from the earth forever. Hundreds more are on the danger list today. For instance, kiwi bird is New Zealand's specialty, which almost became extinct. Apart from their highly distinctive taxonomic status and conservation significance, kiwis are incorporated in the New Zealand culture. They are the unofficial national emblem of New Zealand, and recognized by Maoris as natural treasures to be treated as sacred. Kiwi is the name by whom all New Zealanders are known (Herbert &Daugherty 2002). Human being need animals, and because once they are gone, there will never be any more. Animals are more than just beautiful or interesting. They are more than just a source of food. Every animal has its place in the balance of nature. Destroying one kind of animal can create many problems.
In addition, the cause of endangered species is because of our habitat destruction. This threatened the greatest number of species. A way people can protect endangered species are by enforcing wildlife laws, conserve habitats, make space for our wildlife, recycle, reduce and reuse, control introduced animals, join a organization, or make your voice be heard. In my opinion endangered species need to be saved because animals hold medical, agriculture, ecological, commercial, and recreation value. They must be saved and protected so future generations can experience their value.
