Abstract
External and Internal Physical Security for School of higher education with the introduction of industries standards, as well as legal requirements, must be taken into consideration when designing or modifying the physical security of their facility, faculty and student that they may be charged with in safeguarding. With the events, since 9/11, institutions must now look for new ways to doing this to meet these standards. Most of security plans can be categorize into three or four layers’ approach, Perimeter Security, Facility Controls, Room Controls and Cabinet Controls. This proposal will however will only look at three of these categories, Perimeter Security, Facility Controls, Room Controls.

External and Internal Physical Security
Since 9/11 there has been numerous school attack such as the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, where Adam Lanza, killed 20 children, and six adults, the mass shooting at an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater in where 12 people were killed and 58 wounded, and Virginia Tech, where student Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people and wounded dozens more in a classroom building and a dorm on campus. In all these incidents the FBI called it "active shooter incidents" -- which the report described as "individuals actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in populated areas” (http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/24/justice/fbi-shooting-incidents-study/index.html)
