Examine the reasons for the changes in the size and structure of the UK since the beginning of the 20th century (24)

In the UK today the population has been changing. One reason is the sudden increase of migration from other countries into the UK, and the other being natural events such as births and deaths. A reason why the UK has had a bigger population is the fact that people from other countries migrate here to earn a better living a push factor which diverted them to the UK, some of these countries include: Pakistan, India, Jamaica but these countries made their way to the UK in 1980’s because of the living conditions and fortune that the UK had. Recently there has been an outburst from Poland and Turkey they have flew over for a better standard of living and a better earning of money. There has been a decline in Birth rate also as women are now choosing to have children at a later time in life or even choosing to have no children at all. More and more children these days are becoming economical liabilities due to changes in laws, child labour and schooling. It is harder these days to support more children in the family so families tend to be child centred which means the family concentrates on an individual child more so it succeeds. In the UK today there is a growing number of ageing population. The ageing population is increasingly costly as people have to work for their pensions and health care but they hardly contribute anything towards this. Due to the health rate they are getting very well treated and increase their life expectancy to 80 now. Death rates have also halved from 19 to 10. This can be due to the UK being a highly developed country through time. There has been; better housing, better housing and sanitation, better nutrition better health service etc. This has helped UK also to maintain its high percentage of population due to the healthy standard of living.
