Ethical Lens

After doing the Ethical Lens Inventory, I was able to see how I reason things in life. This assessment was an interesting activity to do. The results showed me that my preferred lens is the relationship and reputation lens. It explains that I balance my rationality and sensibility to determine the best way to help the community by using fairness and justice. I consider these results to be very accurate. I strive to base my choices on how they may affect others.
My personal ethical lens can direct my academic behavior in a very positive way. I believe that everyone should work there hardest and strive to do their best. My ethical lens helps me recognize that I need to be fair and submit my own work. Everyone else has to take their time to find their material and complete their assignments and I am not exception to that rule. My ethical lens also influences my critical thinking abilities. When using critical thinking skills, you are gathering different pieces of information to come to the best conclusion. I use my ethical views to base what that conclusion may be. I use my reasoning skills and intuition to make out what process would be best for everyone.
The career plan activity: aptitude showed my strengths are in cooperating and adhering to values. I take pride in doing the right thing. I was raised to follow the rules of the world. These results showed areas I need to improve in. I want to be better at leading, taking initiative, and delivering results. My goal is to own a business and these strengths are necessities to succeed with this ambition. It disturbs me that the results show me more as a follower instead of a leader because I didn’t view myself that way prior to this assessment. I will learn from this information and build from it. My objective is to come out of my comfort zone and improve in those areas.
