Systematic evaluation is a means of measuring a client’s/family’s progress from a holistic point of view. Such as when using the Outcome Rating Scale (ORS). The scale examines a client’s functioning in terms of individually, interpersonally, socially, and overall sense of well-being (Gehart, 2015). The ORS is an example of an evaluation that can be used for the entire family. Administered at the beginning of the session, the assessment scrutinizes all aspects of a client’s life disclosing his/her improvement or continued distress. The evaluation helps the therapist facilitate conversation and decide what the next course of action should be.
