President Obama is an extremely respected person, everyone is expected to follow him, he’s the president, he’s a leader therefore his supporting of same sex marriages shows a lot. It shows that obviously he knows what he is doing and that he has put enough thought into it.
This is ethos, because president Obama is an authority figure you can use him to persuade someone.

There is no place in the constitution, bill of rights, or the amendments, where it bans gay same sex marriages.

The constitution is supposed to be followed. A lot of people quotes stuff from it because it has the laws of what is right and wrong. The constitution does not say that gay marriages should be banned so it wouldn’t be committing a crime.
A constitution is important because it protects the rights of the citizens of a concerned nation, irrespective of their religion, caste, creed, sex or physical appearance. A constitution, thus, can be safely said to be a social contract between the government and the people it governs. It is the highest law in the united states, other laws come from it. Therefore gay marriages should be legal.
