Some say we evolved from a monkey. Others say a Creator. What do you think? The Creation-Evolution Controversy has been disputed ever since we asked the question “Where did we come from?” For too long, people of religion and science have debated on which stands more true. I think it’s time to push opinions and beliefs aside and consider the real facts in the matter and what you can reasonably conclude from them. Wherever these facts point to is unarguably the more truthful, and these facts are pointing to Creation.
First, let’s consider both sides of the argument. Evolution is the theory that the first living organism developed from lifeless matter. Then, as it reproduced, it changed into different kinds of living things, ultimately producing all forms of plant and animal life that have ever existed on this earth. Evolutionists base their thinking off of certain points such as links between organisms, mutation, and natural selection. Creation is the assertion that an Intelligent Designer, or God, created us. With that said let’s take a look at the one of the main facts: the Fossil Record.
According to Evolution, there should be a gradual development of microscopic organisms that slowly make their way into becoming more complex, linked between transitional forms. What does the Fossil Record have to say about this? One of the most earliest periods in time is the Cambrian period dating back about 10 million years ago. It was in this period of time that fossils seemingly burst forth in sudden profusion, in wide variety, highly specialized and very complex. Below the Cambrian period, there are vast thicknesses of sediments in which the transitional forms would be expected. But they aren‘t there; these older beds are almost barren of evidence of life. This “explosion” of life seems to fit more with Creation, I’d say.
Another point Evolutionists bring up is mutation. The Encyclopedia Americana acknowledges: “The fact that most mutations are damaging to the...
