External Environment

Introduction
A team is defined as a group that consists of more than two members associating and interacting with one another sharing the same goals and having the same mission to accomplish it (McShane
& Travaglione 2007, p.266).
Therefore in this case, students taking Organization and Management as a unit ended up in tutorial group each consisting of 21 students. These groups where randomly chosen according to ones preferred time slot. All members have to cooperate and have a good relationship with each other in order to work as a team and achieve their goals. However negative attitudes do occur in the team but with cooperation among the leaders and the members of the team they can be solved so that the team attains its goals.
Stages of Development
Forming stage is the first stage of a group development, in this stage it involves getting acquainted and understanding leadership skills and other member roles (Hellriegel & Slocum 2007, p.270). This stage which was the beginning of the new semester, we were divided into small groups of four including six members each which could help us interact with each other. We were assigned questions by the tutor; my group was asked to look at norms. Communication was fair in the small groups but when it came to the whole group the communication was not good at all. There was silence in the room after the departure of the tutor; till when Sean and Rahik started asking the group what we were to do for our project case and suggesting who would lead our project and group. Few ideas were suggested during the meeting, at the end of the meeting I was given the responsibility of taking down minutes of the meetings. Phone numbers, email addresses were exchanged in my small group of six and as the whole group we were to communicate using the group discussion board on blackboard.
