Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Fortunately, at the early stage in which the tumor was discovered, doctors
expect an 85% chance of survival. With the use of chemotherapy, this form of cancer is rarely
fatal in modern times. But Daniel will receive no medical treatment. The parents of the young
boy have instead left their sons life in the hands of faith. The Hauser's are part of an American-
procedures. The only treatment the young boy shall receive is from that of natural and spiritual
remedies. The boy's parents believe that their son will be cured of his affliction through the
power of prayer. Daniel's parents are not alone in their beliefs. Thousands of people in hundreds
of varying religions constitute the same confidence in faith healing. From Christianity to Islam,
believers world round literally bet their lives on this conviction, despite the alarm of the medical
community.
human belief in a divine involvement, faith has been accredited as the miracle cure to various
ailments. Whether it be through rituals, prayer or the divine touch of an anointed one, many say
these miracles do occur. Though practiced in numerous religions, faith healing is perhaps most
common in that of Christianity. The New Testament of The Bible tells of many occasions where
Jesus not only heals the sick, but also bestows the power unto his followers. "And these signs will
accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new
tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not
hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." (Mark 16:17-
18). This belief of divine works ordained to a select few here on Earth has led to many modern
day faith healers. Televangelists to this day can be seen on T.V. driving the ills from the
afflicted, sending them into wild fits on the canvas amid...
