Fear and Greed

"Selfishness and Greed run today’s society with an iron fist, just like that of Joseph
Stalin over soviet USSR. In the world of today you hear and see the effects selfishness
and greed everywhere you go, whether it be a large Corporation taking advantage of
children for their own personal gain or even hearing the stories of how sears stole my
poor grandmothers money, and gave her bad credit. It’s a tragic issue striking the
society of today, and we’re doing nothing to stop it. Each and every one of us has
given in and even fuelled this vicious cycle of hurt and devastation in at least one
point in our life. this cycle corruption has become a daily occurrence and a
very common happening in today’s societal norms. This daily occurrence does not
leave us with any answers usually, but with more questions that we each have to
answer ourselves. But the big question I have is that if selfishness and greed are such
overpowering faults in our society, than why do we do nothing to stop it?

My theory for this question is that we as humans just naturally find enjoyment in
others misfortunes (to a degree). It’s a natural occurrence, kind of like how a baby
finds humour or enjoyment out of its father hitting himself, or how we laugh when
somebody gets a pie to the face. Were laughing because its misfortune at another
human being that is not us. This behaviour is not present in all of us, for there are
still the true few out there who are genuinely good (or at least try to have good
intentions) in their actions for helping others. The kind of people that go out of there
way and go “the extra mile” to help others who are in need. Although its not always
easy to find the, those people are still out there. But unfortunately corporations are
not these types of people.

Large corporations produce some of the largest “emissions” of selfishness and greed
