Shayla Jones Rewrite of “ fear is the consequence of every lie”

Fydor Dotoersky said “fear is the Consequence of every lie.” This quote means once we tell a lie, fear lingers over us because we're afraid of being caught. Fear is what we have to deal with when lying because were afraid of what is going to happen if people found out what you actually did. This quote is agreeable because when people lie to cover up what they did, they end up feeling guilty and apprehensive. In the Crucible we can see this through the Antagonist Abigail Williams. Abigail Williams Niece of Reverend Parris of 16th century Puritan Salem, Massachusetts is a vindictive seductive unmarried girl. As the rumor of witchcraft spread throughout Salem, Abigail used the gossip to her advantage to avoid punishment. She accused Tituba the reverends slave too have committed witchcraft because she is different from everyone else. Tituba then confessed and accused other people of witchcraft. Abigail afraid of being caught and receiving a Beating forced her friends too play along too. In court when John Proctor and Mary warren claimed that Abigail is lying, Abigail and her friends pretended that Mary Warren was bewitching them. Fearful of being caught and the fact that the situation has become bigger than she can handle, she fled Salem with all of reverend Parris money.
