Africa is a particular continent, which have been delayed by many factors on his development. Among those factors, we can cite the lack of democracy in the most of African countries.
Historically, many African countries were colonized by western countries. They got independence many years ago but most of them still dependent to those western countries. Moreover, colonizers get a lot of profits from Africa. In fact, they don’t want to be totally separate from those African countries.
However, they use many ways to keep the control of African countries. They impose governments by some fake elections and they destabilize leaders who don’t run on their rules. Obviously, African countries are not really free.
Nevertheless, our problems are not only from western countries. They start by us, in fact African population are enough mature and well-educated to understand democracy. Most of the time, people are in a political party just by profit or ethnicity. Population is easily manipulated because approximately 70 percent of the population doesn’t get an education, so they can’t analyze properly what should be good for their welfare. They are also faced to corruption which is messed up the impact of the government work. According to K. Akosah-Sarpong (2012 April 6) in the article Africa struggles for democratic Deepening, “History isn’t on the good side of Africa’s democracy. From the dark experiences of autocratic one-party systems to authoritarian military juntas, Africa’s political parties have to work really hard to deepen democracy.”
