My academic career in high school has been focused on finance. I now know that I need to choose what I should do in the future. I have consistently maintained an average of 85. I have also successfully balanced my academic interests with athletics, hobbies, and volunteer organizations. I have been thinking about majoring in International Finance since I was in grade 9, and feel that I am a strong candidate.
I must say what got me interested in finance is my dad. As a CEO of an investment group and former financial investment advisor, he has given me an idea of its responsibilities and duties, and how life will be if you are successful in the financial field. When I was young, I liked visiting my dad’s office and seeing what he was doing. He was always looking at the stock market, and had calculator in his hand all the time. He had a lot of vacation days when he became a senior advisor. His salary was about $250,000-$350,000 an year. Our family bought a boat, nice cars, and cottages. I wanted to make my life just like my dad’s. One incident really got me into how interesting the finance world is like. Last year, he gave me his ID for a website where you can invest stocks online. He said to me “The ID I have just given you has a balance of five thousand dollars. I want you to know what your dad does. I dont care if you lose or gain money, I just want you to do this as an experience.” I did not really know a single thing about the stock market and how it even works back then. After a few days of researching, I learned basic terminologies for the stock market and basic ideas of how stock market works. After two weeks, the balance was same. I sometimes lost, but I sometimes gained. I told my dad how it went and he said “I want you to follow my path.” I felt like flying because that was what I wanted to say, and what I wanted my dad to say. I really want to follow his path and be successful.
Like I mentioned earlier, I focused on business and financial courses...
