Commitment

Proverbs 16:3 states “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Our Interest and our Commitment are often thought to be the same side of the coin, but there is a significant difference between the two. When you're interested in someone you may spend time with them because they may have similar interest, ideas and backgrounds. When you are interested in an idea or project, you may only spend time doing it when circumstance permits. When you're committed to something, or someone you accept no excuses, no limitations and will accept only results. Commitment requires all your effort to goes into that task. Commitment is defined as a strong belief in a person, idea, goal or system. It is something, which regularly takes up your time because of a desired result or goal, mutual agreement, verbal or written contract or covenant you make. It may also be because of responsibilities assumed and associated with a position or office that you have. When you make a commitment to do something, you are promising to faithfully perform the duties required, and spending the time necessary to accomplish a desired goal. In order to have a true dedication one must have a certain love for the given task. For it is this love that one has for the task that causes him to continuously persevere to the end of the journey. Commitment is the bridge that spans the gap between what I have been and what I am becoming. It is a simple fact of my spiritual life, a glue. Commitment is love. An act of love, full hearted and unwavering. It is the opposite of abandonment and betrayal. Commitment is a channel for love. A pathway. Commitment is love in action. It is made up of intention and discipline. When you abide to do something with all your heart and soul. We live in a world where commitment is often times obscured by day-to-day life.
