Frankenstein coursework

This novel was written by Mary Shelley in the year 1818. The book is about a scientist trying to create a creature out of lots of people’s body parts and then after creating the monster bringing it to life through the power of electricity. Mary Shelly was born on the 30th August 1797 and as a result of her berth her mother died 10 days later. Mary had a few children but her first child, a daughter, died very soon after she was born. After this Mary became a bit obsessed about death as she was surrounded by death trout her life. Because of this she decided to write a book about a mad scientist who creates life from death, this book was popular when it was first wrote but as the years went on the book (Frankenstein) grew in popularity. During the time Mary was writing her world renowned novel, a lot of discoveries were taking place in the scientific world at this time so lots of people who read this book really did think that these things could actually happen. When the monster is created Victor Frankenstein gets scared and flees his laboratory living the monster to his own devices. The monster then goes out into the wilderness causing damage by burning down a family's home and then killing people as they rejected them he was also turned away by Frankenstein his creator which only made his haterid grow.

Chapter 5 is a really crucial point in the novel because this is the part when victor creates the monster and gives it life. When the monster came alive Victor immediately knows it was wrong for him to do this and then calls his creation a “catastrophe”, after this he runs away. As a result of chapter 5 lots of people were murdered. William, who was just a small boy, was killed by the monster this act was revenge on Victor Frankenstein for treating him badly and disowning him.
