Freak the Mighty

“’The man is an accident of nature,” he says. “All you got from him is your looks and your size. You’ve got your mother’s heart, and that’s what counts.’ The weird thing I keep thinking about, what if something happens when I get older and I turn out to be another accident of nature? Grim sees ne thinking about that one night just before bed, and he sits on the end of the foldout and he says’ Things make a lot more sense when you finish growing up, Maxwell. Now sleep tight and don’t let the bedbugs bite.’”

This quote shows so much more than what people may think, and you can pick up so many tiny details and actually make them into really important facts about this story. That makes me think that Gram and Grim are going to be way more protective of Max, especially after the “incident”. Another point of view of this quote is that Max seems like he is afraid to grow up, afraid he is going to turn out to be like his father, and I am 99.99% he is not going to, Max is true and his dad is a phony and lies. Lastly, Grim is giving Max advice for when he grows up like he said “Things make a lot more sense when you grow up” which is absolutely 110% true. When I was...
