Gay Marriage: Yay or Nay?
Being in a caring relationship is important to most people. Finding a partner and having an intimate, long-lasting, and committed relationship is what families are based on. If that partner is of the same sex does that make the union wrong? Depends on who you ask and what do you mean by union. Just living together is one thing, when you throw in vows, life time commitment, and bringing children into the picture. Then that reflects on a whole new aspect of the idea.
When you ask people what are their views are on gay marriage you can get a wide range of answers depending on their age, religion, sex, political affiliation, etc. Most people, when ask, will tell you they are in favor of equal rights for homosexuals. They agree they should have the same rights in housing, jobs, public accommodations, and should have equal government benefits, equal protection of the law (Bidstrup, 2011). However, when you add gay marriage into the equation, then the dynamic changes and a different set of walls come up.
There are many arguments against gay marriages. To quote the Rev Martin Luther King Jr., "In justice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." (Times Union, 2011). States are squabbling, churches are up in arms, gays are demanding their rights, and all have reasons for

and against gay marriage. Everywhere you look there are still folks who want to deny same-sex couples the respect...
