I think a skill that most people do not have but could benefit from mastering is communication. It is one of the most misused skills a person has. People believe they have communication skills mastered but that's because they think merely talking to someone is communicating. I think communication is a lot more complicated then just talking. It is about knowing what to say to that particular person and relying on those words to get your point across. If its about emotion then you have to find a way to connect with that person emotionally. If it's a point you want to get across logically then that's the approach that you would use. The skills of communication are something that everyone, no matter what their profession, should have mastered. If everyone were to really have communication mastered then the world would be quite a different place. Just imagine our world leaders having communication mastered. The mutual understanding and respect they could have for each other, even if they didn't agree, would be amazing. There would be no more misunderstandings or assuming what was meant because they would be able to communicate exactly their thoughts to each other. No misunderstandings between them. True communication is the most helpful skill that any one in a position of influence could have and should have. The benefits for people with different types of background being able to help one another understand their beliefs could help in our endeavors for peace on earth. How could you not believe that every person has to master this...
