Rhetoric 105, Gender in Advertising September 25, 2008 How To Obtain the Ideal Family Through Products The next article I found was for Eggland’s Best. The ad has a picture of a woman and a younger boy cooking eggs on the stove. They are both happy, smiling and showing love for one another as the mom is placing her arm around the child. On the top of the heading “The Better Egg” the ad says, “For my family.” Further down, below the facts on the quality and production of the egg, there is the saying, “You’re the mom of the house. You know what’s best. Shouldn’t the only egg for your family be Eggland’s Best?” This can be a strong quote in the advertisement because it is questioning the choice of the mother. To have the “perfect” family, the mom must provide good nutrition and healthy ways of eating for the children and her husband. The picture shows that with this product you can have an opportunity to bond and create a healthy meal for your child. The way this advertisement is presented shows this product makes for a healthy meal and relationship, which can only lead to a strong family. The viewer is drowned in facts about the nutrition, that most may not even know what is being said, and can trust that is essential to the body. If a mother is having second thoughts if she is raising her family correctly, seeing this ad with all the positive nutritional facts and statements, she can only be sure that this product will be the best. What all advertisement want is to sell their product and with the information provided, a mother wanting the finest cannot pass up the opportunity of purchase. Finally, I found an article for Hillshire Farm meat. The scene is a backyard barbeque with several different families celebrating an event. The atmosphere is a warm and sunny day filled with joyful people with all smiles on their faces. They are cooking the meat on a grill with help from everyone. This scene makes any viewer want to hot their own backyard cookout and get the...
