Our goal by the end of the course is understanding that regional, ethnic, linguistic and religious interpretations show multicultural literacy and global awareness through geographic pattern analysis and human culture. Cultural critique and evaluation in the form of historical and current events. Geographical Research to develop complex problems and propose solutions to real-world problems of cultural geography. I think I have learnt most of the definitions in the textbook.
The two specific things, religion and google earth, that I have learnt during this semester are so important for my future life.
Geographers keeping the focus on religion is a significant element of geography. The purpose of religion is to attract some people around the world, while other religions are designed primarily appeal to people in a limited geographical area. Such as language, immigrants brought their religion with them to the new location, but although immigrants usually learn the language of the new location, they retain their religion. Religious values are also important in understanding in a meaningful way, people organize landscape. As an important aspect of cultural, religious left a strong mark on the physical environment.
Before taking this course, I had downloaded google earth for a long time but I think google map is more useful than google earth. At first, the google earth assignment made me so confused, I asked my friends how to use it. Since several days practice, I got the most tips to use this wonderful tool. During the google earth project preparing period, I was using it to discover all my interesting places even the place had disappeared on the earth. Making a field trip through google earth can help me organize my future trips.
I prefer to learn more about global cultural elements including ethnicity, language, religion, popular culture, and their relation to natural environments in the future geography classes.
