Deserts, Glaciers, and Climate
Although it may seem impossible to compare any geological aspects of a desert landscape and a glacial landscape it is not. The two very different landscapes have several similarities. My essay will include an in depth look at the differences and similarities of a desert and a glacial landscape. I will explain how the glacial and desert landscapes are created. My essay will include an overview of the climate changes through the past millions of years to the present and it will conclude with my predictions of what the Earth will look like in the 21st century.
Glacial and desert landscapes have several similarities. Both of the landscapes are created through such harsh weather that neither are habitable. Glacial temperatures are much too cold for anyone to survive and desert landscapes are much too dry and hot for anyone to survive. Both of the landscapes have more extensive areas. In the desert subtropical and polar deserts are the more extensive deserts because they experience little to not precipitation or climate changes. Glacial areas also experience little to no precipitation because there in not enough moisture in the air. Snowflakes melt before they hit the ground and become much denser than the delicate snowflakes we are used to seeing.
