With high-tech wireless devices such as cell phones, computers, television and the services that provides them allows us to keep in touch with people worldwide with just a push of a button. Global Communications offers local and long distance services for phones, Internet and cable but just not on the level to keep them in business very long. The senior leadership team at GC has created a strategic plan that would enable them to stay afloat in today’s competitive market of communication services and becoming ‘global’. GC has focused its resources to expand globally and improve its services to meet consumer customers’ needs and realize company growth. In attempt to move forward with this plan, Global Communications encounters a few communicative issues themselves; which led to conflicting interests with human resources and the workforce, conflicting employment rights and ethical dilemmas.
Global Communications new strategic plan for globalization was not effectively communicated to all involved parties. The Union Board members and the employees were left out of the process when it came to the development of the plan to outsource its consumer call centers to Ireland and India. The lack of effective communication on the Senior Leadership Team rendered many individual confused and without knowledge of the problems or the possible solutions. They would benefits by creating an effective strong Communications Model which will [provide a communication process that allows communication to flow through channels between the sender’s and the receiver’s.] (McShane & Glinow, 2005, p. 3)
Global Communications senior leadership team and the board members approved the new plan without consulting everyone – they never asked questions as to what all employees felt regarding the problems and issues they were experiencing.
