Metolachlor Market
Herbicides are the chemicals used to get rid of unwanted weeds by interfering in the mechanism of the plant.
Metolachlor is an organic herbicide derived from aniline. It is member of the chloroacetanilide herbicides and
is extremely effective to grasses. Metolachlor is developed by Ciba-Geigy. Metolachlor inhibits the elongasses
and geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate cyclases that are part of gibberellins pathway. It is produced by
condensation of methyl aniline (MEA) with methoxyacetone. Metolachlor is mainly adopted for the use of
broadleaf weed control in soybean, sorghum, peanuts, cotton and corn. Metolachlor is utilized under the trade
name such as Dual, CGA-24705, Bicep, Pimagram and Pennant.
Metolachlor is formulated in blend with other herbicides such as cyanazine, atrazine and fluometuron.
Metolachlor with Atrazine is used for restricting the growth of diverse unwanted weeds and carry out the
growth of important weeds and grass without affecting it. Metolachlor is also used on turf, lawns and
ornamental plants, shrubs, trees, vines, hedgerows and fencerows for inhibit the growth of weeds.
