Growing Up/Chivalry

Growing Up/Chivalry

November 6, 2008

Ladies.. have you noticed that a lot of guys these days just don't know what chivalry is? I won't say all guys, because that would be stereotyping, and you know I don't like to do that. It's like chivalry is slowly dying generation after generation. I fear for my future daughter and what the guys who will want to date her are going to be like.

I have this friend who dated this guy for like four years who was a complete ass. I think he had Napoleon syndrome. I never understood how he was such an ass... then I met his dad.

You know that's who's to blame most don't you? The parents. They aren't teaching their sons how to treat girls properly. And guys I'm not saying you have to wait on your girls hand and foot, because you're just stupid if you do.. but open the door for her every now and then.. don't check out other girls while you're with her (I know you have the urge.. and by all means go ahead when she's not sitting across from you.. it's nature.. I get it).. give her your jacket if she's cold.. stop cheating. I'm not asking for you to be a saint.. obviously that's just not possible.. just be a gentleman. Be faithful. Think of how you would want your daughter or sister to be treated.

Now don't go being a jerk and blaming your parents either. You have your own brain, and should pick up on these things.. but most of you don't.

You see.. guys have it in their heads that all girls want are jerks. I actually had a guy say that to me. That is so not true. Don't get me wrong, we don't want pansies who cry more than we do, but we don't want jerks either. So, now that I've told you, you can all stop taking "jerk 101" and take a more advanced class.

My point.. stop being assholes. It's that simple. You think it's attractive.. it's not.
