Guiding Principles

Youth Life Foundation of Richmond – Guiding Principles - DRAFT as of June 10 2010

We believe in the Bible as the unchanging word of the one true God and in Jesus Christ as our Savior.

We strive for excellence in everything for the children. We purpose to impart discipline into their lives and provide real-life or real-work experiences for the students. This translates into positive and effective results in the children we serve. We strive for higher test scores, better grades, receiving school awards, honor roll, better attitudes and a demonstration of leadership from each of our children.

We value a strong relationship with the local schools to understand each child's ongoing individual academic and behavior needs.

We employ qualified, committed, and passionate teachers at our Learning Center that are certified or completing a certification in K-12 education.

We value cultivating committed volunteer mentors who will invest their time in building a strong, long-term relationship with each child and serve as life-shaping role models.

We purpose to maintain a structured environment, which includes Bible Study, physical activity, homework tutoring, reading, and academic goal exercises.

We desire to build trust with families of the children and the communities in which we work.

We believe in developing strong and healthy families that nurture positive home environments for the children. We value building long-term relationships with children and their families.

We value partnering with local community organizations, churches, and businesses to collaboratively support the needs of our children, families, and Learning Center programs.

We value instructing and demonstrating leadership skills to the children we serve. We view our children as future leaders who can positively impact their communities and the nation.
