Problem Solution: Harrison-Keyes Inc.
“Know as the literary giant, Harrison-Keyes, Inc., is a global publisher of print products and it specializes in scientific, technical and business books and journals, professional and consumer books, textbooks and other educational material for all level of study” (UOPHX Scenario, 2008, pg. 1, par. 1).
Despite much success for over a century, Harrison-Keyes is plague with the every changing industry. As competition from low cost retailers increase, publishing companies like Harrison-Keyes are finding it hard to survive. Due to staggering growth, Harrison-Keyes, Board of Directors recently hired a new CEO, Meg McGill, in hope to revamp the company. (UOPHX Scenario, 2008, pg. 1). To bring Harrison-Keyes to the 21st century, McGill plans to introduce the company to e-business and outsourcing. Although this is a great way to cut cost and increase profit, Harrison-Keyes is now face with additional issues, communication gap between Asia Digital Publishing, the company being use outsourcing and piracy issues amongst anxious authors.
This is a great opportunity because it allows Harrison-Keyes to dig a little deeper to find the core of its problem. In conducting its research, Harrison-Keyes can better understand the problem and will be able to revamp of make the necessary steps in fixing the problem. This will also enable them to research its industry and its competitors.
