Penicilin
Many people in today's culture take pinicillin, however, not many know what this drug really is, or what it actualy contains. Penicillin is an antibiotic or group of antibiotics produced by certian blue molds, but now usaly prepared synthetically in much larger numbers. It it derived from penicillium fungi including procain, bencathine, and many other types of molds.
On September 28th, 1929 a docter named Alexander Fleming came home from a busness trip in scotland he had been studying molds trying to find a new drug, which he did by scraping some blue mold of some of his tools, after looking closer at this mold he realized it had characteristesks+` of attkcing other bactiera, days later he had grown enough mold to make a trial vaxine called penicillin.
Fourteen years later in March of 1942 Anne Miller was the first civilian patient to be successfully treated with the new drug penicillin. It was at the end of World War 1 when this drug was first magorly used, it was not nesisarily used for wounds from War but from infection and pneumonia. the death rate frome pnemonia was eighteen percent in World War 1 and went down to as low as 1 percent in World War 11, from January to May in 1942 four hundred million units of pure penicillin where manufactured by the end of World War 1 companies were producing six hundred fifty billion units a month.
Penicillin has been usaly used in treatments of the skin, however it is still among the first to be used against many serious dieases of the inner body. What many people fail to realize is that there are many kinds of penicillin such as ampicillin, amoxicillin, fucloxacillin, phnoxymethylpenicillin and a number of others. Certian people are alergic to penicillin, and have side effects such as diarrhea, rashes, dizziness, inflanation of the liver.
