Activities Fair Paper

I think that the purpose of joining a group on campus is to find other people that have the same interests as you. It might also be a way for someone to try new things that they haven’t thought about trying before. If anything it’s a good way to meet new people while at college.
One of the organizations I visited was the Enactus group. Their main purpose is to apply classroom experience and business concepts to community outreach programs. If you joined the group it would also enhance your leadership skills by competing in an annual series of competitions to present the results of team projects and outcomes. I considered joining this group because it would be a great opportunity for me to build my leadership skills, and network with people in the community.
Another one of the groups was the student government association. The main purpose of the SGA is to fairly represent the students’ within the university community. I don’t think that I will join this group because it seems like it would be a lot of responsibility, but it would be a good experience to have.
Another group was the students for violence prevention. The main purpose of this group is to educate students and people in the community about the various forms of violence that can occur on a college campus. This is one group that I definitely think that I could be a part of and feel like I could make a difference. I think it is very important for people to realize that these kind of things happen to the people around them that they see every day.
Overall I think I learned several things about these groups and some of the groups I hadn’t heard of until the activities fair. I was hoping that there would be more groups at the activities fair that I would be interested in, but I think that there were several groups that seemed interesting to me, and would possibly be a part of in the future.
