History and Systems of Psychology

History and Systems of Psychology has given me a strong grasp on the history and founders of modem day psychology. Starting out with the first week I learned that the history of Psychology has been around for a long time and even though people didn’t name it Psychology they were still actively seeking answers and conducting experiments trying to get explanations of behavior and the mind. Although many years of experiments and trail and error type research, many of the same questions still remain unanswered and still need further development to understand even in this day of modern age. Some of the founders of Psychology and their work is fascinating and shows that there is no new machine or gadget that can be hooked up and automatically tell a doctor what is wrong and what is the corrective measures to fix ones thought and actions.
The Renaissance and Early Modern Philosophers go and do a slight introduction of philosophers and moderate contributions they had to the renaissance times. They also went into detail on Humanism in the beginning and some of the major changes that were established by the renaissance scientific achievements. They did go into great detail with Rene Descartes and some of his contributions to include Mind-Body Dualism, Empiricism, Associationism, Positivism, and Common-Sense Psychology. The text concentrated on contributions mad by scholars and went into detail about British and French Empiricism, British Associationism, Positivism, and the Scottish School. The Scottish School was greatly influenced by the works of two individuals Thomas Reid and Dugald Stewart. Reid’s approach I sometimes referred to as Faculty psychology. Continental philosophies: Rationalism, Romanticism, and Existentialism. Rationalism was headed by a man named Immanuel Kant whose work is at most to rationalize and to establish and discredit theories. Romanticism went into detail and the scholars that influenced.
