History of Security
Before I go into the proper ways to secure your possessions, I must examine the history. The history of security will tell you what has worked in the past that has led to present day security, but more importantly, what hasn’t worked and what to avoid. Since the beginning of time man has taken possessions, and since that time he has needed to protect them from others. Sadly this is still true to this day, you still cannot trust your fellow man, and must keep your possessions under constant security.
In the beginning of civilization man was becoming intelligent. The people known now as cavemen were beginning to discover ways to protect themselves, and their possessions from predators, and other people. Cavemen originally used rocks, fruit, branches, and other natural resources to ward off predators and keep themselves out of harm’s way. Eventually, the cave people fine-tuned these tools and created spears, and slingshot contraptions to hunt for food and increase their odds of survival. This goes to show that the need for security paved the way for the most rudimentary advancements in technology. Though they were very basic advancements, they may have been the most important. In this sense you could suggest that the basic need to protect your things snowballed civilization into what it is today.
Jumping ahead thousands of year’s man had become increasingly intelligent. By 30,000 BC humans had begun to from small villages and communities. Even though protection from the elements and wildlife were still the major concerns of security, fellow man started to become a constant threat as well. Most studies suggest the domestication of dogs goes back as far as 30,000 BC. Orphaned wolf pups were rescued by humans and reared alongside babies. Over time, these domesticated wolves evolved into the dog species we know today. Dogs were used for hunting and herding and their loyal personalities led them to become faithful guard dogs.
