Homaro Cantu

Homaro cantu was one of the most amazing chefs to grace this world; he took culinary to a whole new level. Now you might be wondering wait how, and I will tell you but first a little history on this man. Homaro was born September 23rd 1976 in Tacoma Washington. When he was the age of 6 he, his sister, and his mother were homeless. He started his career in culinary when he was twelve years old, he got a job in fast food by lying about his age, one if the things that inspired him to get into real cooking was when the owner of the restaurant he was working at bought and tandoori oven. Shortly after he had his job, he was nearly arrested for setting a fire near his apartments. When homaro turned 18 he found himself a home in Portland Oregon with a couple that took In troubled teens, they agreed to let him live there as long as he went to culinary school.

Momaro graduated from the western culinary institute (which is now a le cordon bleu) and spent two years staging on the west coast. After 50 or such two week to one month internships homaro was ready for a paid job, one day in February 1999 he decided to go after a job with his idol, Charlie Trotter. He flew out to Chicago with 300 bucks and went up to trotter’s back door and begged him for a job. Trotter agreed to an interview the next day, and was impressed enough to give him the job. Homaro worked his way up through the ranks, eventually becoming one of trotter’s sous chefs. In 2003 homaro learned of a soon to open restaurant called moto, the restaurant owned was looking for something out of the ordinary. When homaro interviewed for the position pitched something crazy, talking about levitating food. Homaro convinced de vito (the owner) to let him cook a meal for him and his wife. The seven course meal consisted of features like exploding ravioli and a small table top box that cooked fish in front of them; needless to say it won de vito over.
