Homosexuality
Homosexuality by definition is romantic and/or sexual attraction or behavior among members of the same sex or gender. According to the Child Welfare Information Gateway, "between 8 and 10 million children are being raised by gay parents." Gay men face many options when having a child, there are many foster cares, domestic and international adoptions, diverse forms of surrogacy, and kinship arrangements. Most states do not have any laws or rules that say anything about same sex adoptions, most laws are focused on the abilities of one to take care or the child. In 1977, Florida was the only state with a law that prohibits all homosexuals from adopting. Homosexual parenting does not mean that your child will be homosexual. Yes, some children from same sex parents do end up being homosexual, but the same goes for children who have parents of the opposite sex. Is the outcome of a Childs development affected by same sex parenting? Well, According to Charlotte J. Patterson, " More than two decades of research has failed to reveal important differences in the adjustment or development of children or adolescents reared by same sex couples compared to those reared by other-sex couples. Results of the research suggest that qualities of family relationships are more tightly linked with child outcomes that is parental sexual orientation." Being reared by parents of the opposite or same sex does not affect the child because of sexual preference but rather on the quality of parenting, the relationships of the family and the care and love for the child is what will affect the well-being and "outcome" of the child.Same sex parenting is not looked highly upon in the religious roles, because of an example of what the bible states: "you shall not lie with a male as with a woman.
