How Music Affects Your Heartbeat.

Science Fair Project

Problem: What types of music affects your heartbeat ?

Research: You could check your pulse in either the wrist or the neck. Use two fingers your index and your middle finger. Count the amount of beats that your pulse makes in 10 seconds. Then multiply that number by 6 to figure out your heart rate in one minute. For example if you have 15 beats in 10 seconds then you multiply it by 6 and then you will get 90 which is the amount of beats that you have per minute. Music affects your mood, depression, it relaxes you. It also relaxes your muscles and bones. Music is a very powerful thing and nobody knows that. Music also affects the way you breathe and the speed you move in. It speeds up or slows down depending on the music you listen to. It speeds up or slows down only to a certain range, it cant go to fast or to slow because it needs to stay safe. The slower the heartbeat the less stress you will have. You will be more calm at the moment. Heart beat slows down and pulse rate slows down.
Hypothesis: I think that heavy music such as rock, techno, salsa, and reggaeton affect your heartbeat the most.
Experiment: I will take 3 people, each doing a different activity while making them listen to heavy music and then measure their heartbeat. The certain activities i will be making them perform are reading a book, doing english homework, and watching television. I expect that by the end of each activity their heartbeat will speed up. Then, i will do it again but make each person listen to soft music such as classical, opera and R&B. By then end of this activity, I expect their heartbeat to be slow and steady.
Conclusion: As a result, heavy music increased the heartbeat of each person and soft music slowed it down.
