How to Be a Great Mother!

When I think of what it means to be a great mother, so many things come to mind. I learned by example and the influences that surrounded me. I was fortunate enough to have a great Mother who raised us to be good people long before we became mothers. I learned so much about being a good mother from her and other strong women in my family. We always knew we were loved, nurtured, and cared for but it goes much deeper than that. We were raised to always know your worth and to never settle. Most importantly, I was raised to know and understand the power of God and prayer and strength. These are the values I teach my son in hopes that he will become a decent, respectful and honest man as well as a great father someday.
As I said earlier, I learned about what being a great mother meant to me by example. Great mothers spend quality time with their children, and listen to them when they need it most. Great mother interacts with their children, and stay involved in school activities. They also make sure their children have all the necessities of everyday living such as, clothes, shoes, food, and shelter daily. Great mothers make sure their children are being obedient and respectful to adults and their peers even when they don’t want to. I think it is important to talk to your children about their issues as well as things that they encounter every day. I think it’s important to be open and honest in having conversations and to let them voice their thoughts and opinions. Also, teach them that it’s okay to disagree but to still respect the opinions of others. Great mothers are always there for their children even when their children are make poor decisions. We are to guide them and teach them to think for themselves so that they understand the consequences of their actions.
