How to Motivate Students

MOTIVATING STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN MORE SPORTS ACTIVITIES AT SCHOOL

INTRODUCTION

This report is intended to explain why so many students are not taking up sports activities at school. Reasons for this are numerous and this report will state only some of them.

CONTRIBUTING FACTS

❖ Students are very busy, have too many subjects and very little free time. Thus any free time they will use for studying and other activities that have no connection with sports whatsoever.

❖ School administration and professors themselves are partly responsible for this problem because they are not trying to encourage students to participate in sports activities.

❖ Parents also share some blame. They often think that sports activities could influence studying in a negative way.

IDEAS FOR IMPROVEMENT

What steps can be taken in order to improve the situation? Firstly, a complete reform of education should take place as soon as possible. Students have too many subjects and because of that cannot find the time for any other activities. Reducing the number of obligatory subjects would be a great way of providing students with more free time. Of course, the time students spend at school would stay the same. Extra time would be used for sports activities and voluntary service.

Also giving awards and acknowledgments to students that achieve solid results would be very helpful. Adding to this, showing students that they can achieve success by doing sports could prove to be vital.

CONCLUSION

Clearly students are not motivated to take up sports at the moment. Reasons are various and are connected with many aspects of their lives. In conclusion, these factors only show that our education needs a huge reform in order to motivate students to start participating in activities that are not closely connected with studying.
