The news of looted Chinese relics sold in France reminds people of the loss of Chinese culture. A recent research indicates that 1.67 million pieces of Chinese relics are housed in more than 200 museums in 47 countries. It is evident to acknowledge the significance of restoring Chinese culture which is associated with punishing illegal relic exchange, repairing historical architecture and promoting Chinese art achievement
China is a magnificent country with five thousand years splendid history. It’s the only remaining ancient civilization, and has undergone its ancient and imperial eras. Chinese culture including the traditional medicine, art, custom and architecture have extreme importance to the global civilization and development. The research also states that there are more than 23,000 pieces of Chinese relics in the British Museum, most of which were robbed or purchased for pennies more than 100 years ago. Don’t you think it’s awkward and ridiculous that China doesn’t even have the original edition of the most classical texts? To walk out this embarrassed situation, some effective and feasible measures should be adopted without any delay. First of all, Chinese authority ought to co-operate with the ICPO and other governments in combating the illegal art exchange and demand the return of the relics.
