To a 24 year old, seeing friends who had been dating for a long time getting engaged was hard. I'd been single for a year and a half when my best friend Kendra looked at me and said “Ashley, aren't you tired of being single?” I replied “yes, I am.” Kendra then looked at me and said “Why don't we sign up for a dating web site?” We then signed up for a website called BeNaughty, let me say it was a very interesting experience for someone new to a world of online dating. Online dating could be the best experience of your life or it could be the worst. For me, it was the happiest in my life because it is how I met my husband, James.
Months after signing up for BeNaughty I got nothing but messages from men wanting a one night stand. I was looking for something more than a one night stand, I was looking for a relationship. Then it happened, the night I went onto BeNaughty to cancel my account up popped a message from a guy named “Motorcyclepilot” he messaged me and said “care to chat”. I looked at this “Motorcyclepilot's” profile before responding, when I did I said “of course”. We then chatted for hours on end. We couldn't get enough of each other. I wanted to know more, so I gave Motorcyclepilot my phone number and told him to call me. He responded “let me find my phone” and a few minutes later my phone rang, it was him. After talking until 6 am Michigan time, Motorcyclepilot told me he'd see me next Thursday. We then said our goodbyes on the phone and promised to text each other later that morning. We kept to our promise and sent each other texts messages the whole day. Motorcyclepilot finally revealed his real name to me and it was James Landers and I “Ashluv23” finally revealed my name to him. We talked on a daily basis, until April 11, 2011 the day he came to Michigan.
