Issue 1: Kathy is only one person
Solution: Kathy needs to realize that she is only one person. Kathy needs to hire a purchasing manager for her stores. If she hires a purchasing manager, this will free up more of her time, so she can spend more time at the Del Mar location to focus on the issues there and try to come up with a solution to their financial problems. This will also free up time for Kathy to be more customer friendly.
“Purchasing managers consider price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support when choosing suppliers and merchandise. They try to get the best deal for their company, meaning the highest quality goods and services at the lowest possible cost to their companies. In order to accomplish this successfully, purchasing managers, buyers, and purchasing agents study sales records and inventory levels of current stock, identify foreign and domestic suppliers, and keep abreast of changes affecting both the supply of, and demand for, needed products and materials. To be effective, purchasing specialists must have a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased.” http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos023.htm
