Illegal Immigration has been a problem for a very long time now in the United States. It is also a subject that accompanies a ton of controversy. For as long as I can remember, Illegal immigration can almost always spark a deep, sometimes heated conversation about the problems that come with Illegal Immigrants. Illegal Immigration dates back hundreds of years and has been increasingly detrimental to our country and our economy. Usually, the topic of immigration can either be discussed specifically about legal or illegal immigration. At one point, there was a wave of immigration and approximately 24 million illegal immigrants came into the United States from all over the world from 1881 to 1920. (Jones, 2011) During this period of time, an opportunity arose for illegal Mexicans coming into the US because employers liked their acceptance to low wages for labor. Typically, they are known for their hard work and dedication. Employers wanted to take advantage of their hard work for such low wages. Today, there is still a high level of illegal immigration in the United States. The illegal immigrant population in the United States is a controversial and key immigration issue. This paper hopes to highlight the problems and consequences associated with illegal immigration in America. I will also highlight areas of continues concern and how we can make this problem better for the United States.
