Immigration essay

Is immigration always a bad thing?

Nowadays, more and more people continue to immigrate from their home countries, due to globalization. People tend to move to other countries, where they can live a better life or have a better paying job. Immigration is a very controversial topic and that is why I am going to place a few facts on why I think immigration is often not a bad thing.

Firstly, people immigrate as a last chance to improve their quality of life. When you cannot find a job in your home country or work for a minimum wage that is not enough to support your family, there is nothing left but to move on and search for a good paying job elsewhere. Once a person has found a place to live in and a job, they usually send a part of their salary back home to their loved ones to help them out. They actually also help their home country’s economy indirectly, because their importing money in a way. From this we can see that people leaving their home country actually hurts no one – the opposite, it helps both parties at once, it is a win-win situation.

Secondly, one of the best things immigration brings to the table is the amount of cultural diversity that comes along with it. Without immigration, globalization wouldn't thrive as strong as it is today. Immigration increases product and diversity of various goods, a thing that many people enjoy very much. It makes familiarizing with foreign cultures much easier.

To sum up, I would like to say that while our society is a bit on the negative side when talking about immigration, without it world would be much different than it is today. And while immigration has cons like greater poverty, increase in crimes and education costs, the positive aspects massively overshadow it.
