Importance of the Law and Bill of Rights in America The Bill of Rights, give Americans the rights too many things such as freedom of speech, freedom of the press, to bear arms for their protection and to hunt food. They also combine with 2 the laws to not allow someone to incriminate themselves without the presence of a lawyer. These Bills have allowed great men like Martin Luther King, Jr. express himself with his “I Had A Dream” speech, as well as celebrities keeping silence, such as O.J. Simpson until necessary by his team of lawyers. These Bills are not meant to discriminate against anyone, but to give them all the abilities to having the same benefits to express themselves, to protect themselves and to get adequate counsel. Another good quality about the Bill of Rights is that if someone violates them, they can be punished in court for them. That protects people and it protects the companies also. This gives groups such as the gay and lesbian population the ability to protest in peace as well as march and this gives all religious groups the ability to worship and praise their own version ofGod. I think that this gives everyone their individuality because in America, we have all different types of immigrants who have come from all parts of the world and their personal display of religion is what some come with to this country to express. The police do need to have more law enforcers, but they need to have their superiors and the criminal justice system back them up more. Crooked police officers, lawyers, and even judges have caused some innocent people to be put away; while the guilty walk free because of “paying off” someone. I think that they systems needs an overhaul, but I don’t think all of the money in the world, nor time would convince some people to stop being crooked or too selfish. I think that people should have the ability to capture their intruders, to “arrest” them or to restrain them until the police come, but I don’t honestly think that...
