First Impressions

First impressions are said to make lasting impressions on how we perceive a person, but that is not always the case. I met a guy that seemed to be the man of my dreams, and after getting to know him, he turned out to be something completely opposite of my first impression. In many instances, people tend not to be as transparent as we would like them to be, but as time goes on their true colors will eventually come out.
I learned that men change throughout a relationship. A typical guy, in the beginning of a relationship will try to impress a girl by cleaning up his house; getting dressed nicely, as well as lavish her with gifts. As the relationship matures the guy will become more comfortable and as a result he will not try to impress her as much; he leaves the house a mess, won’t dress up as much, will not call like her like he use to, and becomes more frugal. Men try to give good first impressions but usually that’s just how they are in the beginning and then their true personality is revealed.
On the other hand, in school I heard rumors, from my friends about a teacher who was so overbearingly strict? All of the rumors about this teacher were creating a negative impression in my mind. However, upon entering the classroom, the teachers’ open and honest disposition changed and dispelled all of the previous negative rumors. As the semester progressed, not only

did the teacher student relationship grow, but I excelled far more than I previously thought or imagined.
In our minds we have an image of the perfect dream house. When we come to a house that does not fit our mental image, we have a hard time visualizing how it could look with some modifications and we subconsciously reject any ideas of how it could look with a little remodeling. The impression will change after the house is completed and everything will be in its envisioned place.
