I want to address some important concerns and offer some suggestions as the company is preparing for a change. The company is in the transition of merging InterClean and EnviroTech. As leaders of the sales team, I need for the managers to concentrate on the concerns addressed in this memo and apply the suggestions in any capacity needed to make this transition flow as smooth as possible.
Some of our employees are concerned about job security. Managers need to offer assurance that the company will look at every aspect of our employee job performance, skills analysis, and attitude prior to making the necessary adjustments to ensure that we are doing what is best for the company. Our employees need to know that this is not personal and is about what is in the best interest of the company. Management staff needs watch how you respond to our employees because they are in a vulnerable state. As you know, InterClean will begin integration efforts soon. Managers need to be aware and focus on the employment laws that will apply to the actions we will eventually take. Some laws of interest would be The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1991 and The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race, religion, color, sex, or national origin in all aspects of employment (Cascio, 2006). The Civil Rights Act of 1991 protects employees on unintentional discrimination and mixed motives (Cascio, 2006). There may be others that apply to our transition which is why we need to have knowledge of all employment laws and only apply the one that could impact our transition. Managers need to know that employees have a right to compete for jobs for which they are qualified. This is an Equal Employment Opportunity company.
