Independence
As our children growing up, parents try to guide them to a better future and make every effort to protect them. Being protective about children is good sometimes but sometimes children become more and more dependent on parents. In the current competitive world, it is very important that a person is self-sufficient and self-dependent. Children should be taught to be independent from his childhood and it is the responsibility of us to make them think and work independently. In Riverbed, there are multiple ways we train our children to be independent. Such as opening their own food containers, of course we would help to start open them if they are too tight, also like buttoning their pants, putting clothes on. For example, if Garrison comes to me with an inside out shirt and asks me to put it on him, instead of doing what he asks for, we would lay out the shirt and show him how to right it. Like put your arm in the sleeve and pull out, and show him how to put his head in first and get the arms out. The other thing that we need you, parents help is have your children carry their own lunch box from the parking lot all the way up here to Riverbed, also your children should walk up here instead of being carried up here. Also up here in Riverbed, children will clean themselves after bowel movement, YES, we will stand by them and guide them through telling them where needs to be wiped more. We believe, with the help for you, our children will get better and better at meeting their own needs and be more independent.

Sunscreen
Sunscreen, as we all see here at family school, children are outside most of the time, they need sunscreen even in winter or cloudy, rainy day. So please cover your children in sunscreen from head to toes every day before they come to school. It is recommended to apply sunscreen 30 minutes before exposing in the sun to allow for sunscreen to be absorbed by the skin.
