Project: waste heat recovery based power plant in India
Project: Q195/1000-55-9.8/540
Application: WHRB to recover waste heat from the flue gas generated in zinc roaster
Project working time: the year of 2007.

The purpose of the project activity is to recover waste heat from the flue gas generated in zinc roaster.

The heat recovered is being used in the waste heat recovery boilers (WHRB) for generating high pressure steam which is then expanded for driving turbines for generating electricity. Hence the Project activity is utilizing waste heat recovered from flue gas produced in roaster unit for generating electricity. High temperature in roaster unit is maintained by heat liberated due to exothermic reaction. Waste flue gas from this unit has been used for generating high pressure steam in a waste heat recovery boiler (WHRB).

High pressure steam from WHRB has been used for generating electricity in a 9.4 MW back pressure turbine. The purpose of this monitoring report is to calculate greenhouse gas emissions reduction achieved by the project activity from 31/03/07 to 29/02/08 the first monitoring period.
