Introduction

Current Course paper called “Metonymy in political speeches” covers significant areas of the theory of metonymy–specifics, identification and their application in practice that is in analysis of political speeches. The concept of metonymy is important because it becomes an influential tool in different texts and speeches.

The notion of metonymy is a central element of understanding theory and it is important to study it in order to be a professional. Another important element for the future professional is reaching metonymy recognition in practice. Author has to have knowledge of how to define such aspects of various fields, for example politics. This Course paper explains the issues that may occur during identification of metonymy and offers solutions to these problems. All material is supported by examples taken from the Practical part of the Course paper.

The Course paper is divided into Theoretical and Practical part. The Theoretical part provides theoretical material about metonymy and demonstrates their application in literary texts.
