Introduction:

Although construction industry is considered to be significant, it is also well known for its low output, diverse tasks and departmentalization, wide arena of team members, and conflicting objectives. The structure of an organization in a construction industry exposes itself to enormous information and communication problems, poor performance, unorganized data processing that leads to customer dissatisfaction. (Nitithamyong, et. al. 2006) In order to achieve the objectives of the project within the constraints of cost, time, and quality, construction firms have to be highly organized regarding their project data, information, communication and decisions. All these problems and issues are mainly related to teamwork and synchronization between all the team members such as client, consultants and contractors. (Fox, 2006).
Use of Information Technology (IT) is an emerging paradigm in construction industry. IT helps to monitor these issues and overcome the difficulties faced by the project management. It facilitates ease of project data dissemination to authorized members as and when required. Project-specific records kept by the contractor are of potential use to the client and design team for monitoring and controlling project and organizational performance. Likewise, data held by clients and consultants, for e.g. the payment position, changes in designs, items, and schedule may also benefit the contractor through enhanced workflow and cash flow forecast. (Nitithamyong, et. al. 2006a.) Proper communication between the team members of the project will increase the overall efficiency and help improve the project management activity. This will facilitate customer satisfaction via minimal difference in the expectation and project output.
