Interview Bangladesh

I had interviewed a native speaker of Bangladesh, a country in Southeast Asia, next to India. He is attending to Winona State University. He tells me about his first quarter in Winona, and how he had a roommate named Mike. The day after he had arrived, he asked me if I wanted a pop. Back home we refer to carbonated drinks as "cold drinks." So, when he asked me about having a pop, I thought he was referring to popcorn. I said, very politely, "No thank you, I am not hungry." He also said he did not know about pop meaning soda for about another week he had arrived. This was showing the assimilation of the two countries was different. One was thinking popcorn while the other was thinking soda. He continues his story about how the veteran Bangladeshi at WSU, took him to a restaurant right across campus named Papa John's. He ordered his meal and finally asked for a Pepsi. The waitress handed me an aluminum can, he was not used to cans because his home only had bottled pop drinks. He had obviously struggled trying to open the can of soda, which he had spilled all over the tables. His friends and a few others at the nearby tables had a good laugh out of this. Showing the integration of the people. The biggest culture shock that he said he had received was also in that first week at Winona. He was in the shower of our all-male dormitory and was toweling off when he heard this female voice asking, "Anybody in here?" He was terrified at the first thought that ran through his head thinking he was in the wrong bathroom. So, he did a very deep masculine voice saying yes there was someone in here. The girl had responded, "Well, we've got to use the bathroom. So, don't come out!" He became speechless on how a girl was in the men’s bathroom. He had shivered in the cold shower while the girls took their time talking. From what he had heard from their conversation was how the girls was drinking beer on his floor and were to drunk to go downstairs to his the girls bathroom. This...
